Our new email server is finally ready to provide a more reliable and user
friendly experience. We have designed this system to run concurrently
with the existing system, which means we are not automatically
upgrading everyone at this time and you can convert to the new email
system at your convenience . Not only will the new service be
more reliable and faster, but it has some additional features our users have
asked for as well.
New Features:
- POP3, IMAP and SMTP support. This allows you to access your email account using your favorite email client such as Outlook, Eudora or Netscape.
- Increased storage space. All web based accounts now have 25meg of storage space.
Improved features
- Spam Filtering. Easier and more adjustable spam filtering.
- Friends Only Filtering Only accept messages from people on your friends list.
- Multiple Signatures. Set up different signatures for different occasions.
Conversion process
The conversion process is a 2 phase
process. The first process modifies your current server settings and
messages so that the new server can import them correctly into your existing
folders structures. The inbox folder on your old account will be
renamed "Previous Inbox." It creates the account on the new system
and sets the server to begin delivering all new messages to the new
system. After this process is complete, you will be redirected to your
new email server log in form.
Phase one also transfers your address book to the new system. Please
note that we are only transferring email address and names to the new system,
no postal mail addresses or phone numbers are being transferred. Also, no
other account options are being transferred.
The old server will still be available until March 18th, 2008 so you can access the older system to manually transfer settings if desired.
Once you log into the new system, the server will automatically begin
transferring your messages from the existing server. If you have hundreds
or thousands of messages this may not complete immediately and will cause slow
page response the first time you log in and check for new messages.
Please be sure to check your settings, including “save messages on send” and
any rules you may have setup on the current system.
SMTP Limits. If you choose to use an email client and use our
server for SMTP you will be limited to 1000 messages a day/200 messages per
hour in outgoing messages. This email service is for personal use only
and this limit is designed to prevent abuse of the service.
Message Size Limits. The max size for a single message sent
through this server is 10meg.
Inactive accounts. Any account that has not been logged
into once every 90 days will be put into an inactive state.
Any messages sent to an account in this state will be bounced to the
sender. After 120 days the account will be deleted and all messages
will be lost. Accessing your mail account via the web
interface, POP3 or IMAP are all considered logging in and will keep your
account active.
AntiSpam and AntiVirus Information Every incoming connection to our email
server is compared to a “Real Time Blacklist (RBL), if the IP address of the
connection is found to be on the list the connection is immediately refused
with a message indicating a RBL block. Also all incoming mail is scanned for
Viruses and any message found to have a virus is immediately deleted. The RBL
lists we use are all well managed and widely used and have ways for legitimate
sender to be removed if a sender is has a temporary issue or is flagged as a
spammer by mistake. Our policy is NOT to whitelist any senders that are on
these lists.
